Unit Specification: This unit introduces the students the developments techniques and different layouts and screen sizes of devices in responsive web designs development. Responsive Web Design has, in short time, become a common method to create websites that automatically adapt the layout to different screen sizes. However, critique has been raised about poor performance due to large page size and high number of requests to the web server. The aim of this study is to evaluate techniques to optimize the load
time of a responsive website. This is done by creating a prototype in the form of a responsive website, which is used as a base for the optimization. Tests are performed by measuring the page size and the number of requests when using four different optimization techniques. The results show that combining optimization techniques can dramatically reduce the page size and the number of requests. Consequently, this has a positive impact on the load time of the website. Furthermore, the Mobile First approach
is important in responsive web design as it prioritizes the use of mobile devices and as a result highlights the significance of web performance. It is also suggested to set a
Performance Budget early in web development projects in order to avoid slow websites and spread awareness about the importance of performance.

Unit Specification: The main objective of the unit is to give the understanding and learning about the development apps of android by using android studio and visual studio 2017 for android. Android is an operating system and programming platform developed by Google for Smart Phones and other mobile devices (such as tablets). It can run on many different devices from many different manufacturers. Android includes a software development kit for writing original code and assembling software modules to create apps for Android users. It also provides a marketplace to distribute apps. All together, Android represents an ecosystem for mobile apps. Apps are developed for a variety of reasons: addressing business requirements, building new services, creating new businesses, and providing games and other types of content for users. Developers choose to develop for
Android in order to reach the majority of mobile device users. Android provides a touch-screen user interface (UI) for interacting with apps. Android's user interface is mainly based on direct manipulation, using touch gestures such as swiping, tapping and pinching to manipulate on- screen objects. In addition to the keyboard, there’s a customizable virtual keyboard for text input. Android can also support game controllers and full-size physical keyboards connected by Bluetooth or USB. Use the Android software development kit (SDK) to develop apps that take advantage of the Android operating system and UI. The SDK includes a comprehensive set of development tools including a debugger, software libraries of prewritten code, a device emulator, documentation, sample code, and tutorials. Use these tools to create apps that look great and take advantage of the hardware
capabilities available on each device.

Unit Specification: This unit introduces students to the origin and evolution of games engines and their effect on game design, it also expects students to project this path into the future to draw conclusions and predict a possible future for engines. After being introduced to the core services of most engines and their advantages, students are expected to evaluate a range of different engines and debate their features. Professional game development typically represents a significant investment in time, effort, skill and money. These requirements are further complicated due to the generally increasing differences in hardware platforms (such as PCs, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, tablets and other mobile devices). Prior to the use of a games engine, a developer would need highly detailed and specific knowledge relating to the platform, device drivers and operating system calls. In addition, they would need to be capable of writing efficient low-level Math’s functions to simulate physics, gravity, calculate trajectories and determine object collisions in 2D
and 3D environments, including designing image transition algorithms. Using a games engine, a developer can implement more features, more quickly and more effectively, and deploy them on more platforms than ever before. However, despite using a games engine there are still plenty of unique challenges to be solved.

Unit Specification: This unit introduces students to the role, benefits, disadvantages and potential outcomes Emerging Technologies have in the development of software applications. The aim of the unit is to enhance the student’s understanding of the current state, terminology, advantages, disadvantages, potential impact and benefits of
Emerging Technologies on the development of software applications. Emerging Technologies have the ability to disrupt industries, radically change the progress and thinking of humankind, affect society at large and solve huge problems. Computing underpins many Emerging Technologies and allows rapid development and sharing of ideas, products and scientific understanding to occur across multiple fields in shorter and shorter timeframes. The objective and effect of Emerging Technologies is usually to change the status quo.

Unit Specification: In this unit, students will examine the structure of data, and how an efficient data esign follows through into an effectively developed database management system. Students will examine the merits of different DBMS platforms, and investigate system administration and management tools of the platform. As globalisation and the 24-hour economy develop and increase, organizations must ensure that their database management systems (DBMS) are reliable, secure, efficient and able to cope with rapid change. Database management systems will continue to service the many operations of our modern world; they are becoming increasingly complex, to develop and manage, due to technological advancements and changes in the way organisations do their business in a global market.

Unit Specification: The aim of this unit is to familiarize students with these features and their best practices to ensure that their code is in line with industry standards. Features of programming languages that are considered advanced are used to develop software that is efficient; it can affect the performance of an application as well as the readability and extensibility of the code, improving productivity and therefore reducing cost. Many commercial applications available today, whether for productivity or entertainment, will have used one or more design pattern in their development. A design pattern is a description of how to solve a problem that can be used in many different situations and can help deepen the understanding of object-orientated programming and help improve software design and reusability.
